Redefining the NVR

March 2015 Surveillance

The Milestone Husky series challenges the limitations of ordinary all-in-one network video recorders (NVRs). This surveillance solution is designed to perform in a variety of configurations that best suit the customer – from a single-site flower shop to a multi-site educational institution.

All Milestone Husky NVRs are pre-installed with Milestone video management software and come available in small, workstation and rack-mounted models. The Milestone Husky series allows users to interchange multiple models, cameras and third-party integrations to obtain a tailored, scalable solution that reduces total cost of ownership without compromising quality.

New breed of NVRs

Based on appearances alone, the Milestone Husky NVRs are different from others in the market. The appliances are sleek and sophisticated – designed to fit any environment, even on a small retail shop’s shelf. Ensuring reliability and durability, the hardware is industrial-grade and works seamlessly with the Milestone VMS. Yet, it is the flexibility of the Milestone Husky Series is what makes the solutions stand out.

“We have redefined the NVR concept by providing our customers with embedded surveillance solutions that are customisable and scalable,” says Lars Nordenlund, VP of Incubation and Ventures at Milestone Systems. “Milestone Husky has already had tremendous response in the market because the series makes it so easy to customise solutions that meet their specific needs – from a single location to multi-site installations. Milestone Husky offers simple solutions with more than 50 preconfigured options.”

Easy to use

The Milestone Husky appliances are ready to use, featuring automatic device discovery with wizards for configuring the entire system, and the device licence keys are pre-activated. Milestone Husky Hybrid NVRs are preinstalled with Milestone VMS for easy setup and user-friendly operations.

Easing the transition to analogue

The Milestone Husky series of NVRs now offers versions with integrated encoders that make it simple to connect analogue and digital cameras, which run on IP networks, to the same box. This makes Milestone Husky NVRs an easier and more affordable way to make the transition from analogue to digital technology. There is no need to throw out older cameras that are still working, as you add new network devices to your surveillance solution. The end users can continue to use existing analogue cameras and add IP cameras over time for better evidence-quality video and surveillance features.

The Milestone Husky Hybrid NVRs are aligned with the very favourable Milestone encoder licensing. In this only one hardware device licence is needed for each analogue-to-IP encoder, regardless of the number of analogue cameras connected to the encoder. This applies to encoders with no more than one IP licence. The Milestone Husky Series also supports the Milestone encoder licensing when external encoders are used on the NVRs. This enables end users to choose from more than 200 encoders.

Flexibility and freedom to choose

Customers get instant and remote access to live and recorded video through a flexible choice of client interfaces: Milestone XProtect Smart Client (available with the Milestone Husky M30 and Milestone Husky M50), XProtect Web Client or Milestone Mobile – all available in 27 languages.

The Milestone open platform supports more than 3000 camera models from over 100 manufacturers, as well as compatibility with ONVIF and PSIA compliant devices. Third-party integrations with video analytics and access control add even more value when using Milestone Husky M30 and M50 models.
