High levels of security and reliability with MasterLink

November '99 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

Electronics Line has introduced its MasterLink range of supervised wireless products which incorporates SecuriCode technology. This technology eliminates previous shortcomings that were associated with wireless systems.

Although wireless systems are known to be favoured by installers due to the fact that they significantly reduce labour costs and installation time when measured against hardware installations, there is one major disadvantage. The limited number of possible code combinations and the usually fixed transmitted codes have made wireless systems vulnerable to unauthorised attempts at accessing the protected area. This was made possible by the use of inexpensive and readily available devices that 'grab' or 'scan' codes; disabling the alarm and leaving it wide open to unauthorised access by intruders.

SecuriCode technology, utilised in Electronic Line's MasterLink range of supervised wireless products, provides the solution.

Four billion code combinations are available which means that a complete scan would take approximately 17 years. Secondly the system may never respond twice to the same transmitted code. Once the system has responded to a valid code, about 65 000 valid codes will have to be received before the same code is used again.

Additional features

Electronics Line incorporated other features that make the MasterLink range of supervised wireless products highly reliable:

p Factory programmed transmitter registration. With over 16 million identity code combinations, code duplication is virtually eliminated.

p High RFI/EMI immunity.

p Extended indoor range due to superior FM technology. This technology is known for its high immunity to interference.

p Increased battery life through the use of lithium batteries and through features such as fixed transmission time and transmission guards which conserve battery life.

The MasterLink range was also created with the ability to complement and expand existing installations and product lines. The range consists of passive infrared detectors, animal/pet immune passive infrared detectors, magnetic switch, universal transmitter, smoke detector, 2-button key fob, 4-button handheld transmitter, zone expander and standalone receivers.
