First SAIS breakfast seminar focuses on risk

January 2015 Conferences & Events, News & Events

The South African Institute of Security (SAIS) is hosting a breakfast seminar titled Risk to Opportunity on the 20th February in which participants will discuss the business case for safety and security.

Dr Gavriel Schneider will be the keynote speaker. He is an acknowledged subject matter expert on integrated risk management, safety and security with extensive senior level management and leadership experience. He is the first recipient of a Doctor of Criminology Degree with a specialisation in Security Management as well as a Master of Technology Degree in Security Risk Management.

In this interactive education session, Dr Schneider will bridge the gap between theory and practice. The interlinked fields of security, safety, health, risk and emergency response have evolved to become unique specialist fields in their own right. In many cases, large organisations have, out of necessity, created silos for these functions, while in other cases some aspects are simply ignored. By adopting an integrated risk approach aligned to organisational objectives and implementing a proactive risk based methodology, the complex environment that we operate in today can be better managed. By bridging the gap between specialist practitioners and senior executives, an organisation can truly turn risk into opportunity.

The event will be held on Friday 20th February 2015 at 7h30 for 8h00, at the Pirates Sports Club, 25 Braeside Street, Greenside, Johannesburg. The cost for the breakfast is R200, while SAIS members can bring guests for R100 in this month’s 'Bring your Boss' special offer.

Bookings should be made by telephone or email to Rosemary using the contact details below, before 1pm on Wednesday 18th February 2015.
