Introducing Estate Security Intelligence

January 2015 Residential Estate (Industry)

The estate security business has grown into a large industry with enormous demands on performance. Security managers are continually under pressure to provide an holistic security solution. This is all taking place without a forum for the practitioners to share information and best practice.

With this in mind Rob Anderson, in association with Wayne Devy has launched Estate Security Intelligence (eSI) to fill this need. The website is in its infancy, allowing for pre-registration. If the response is adequate to make the system viable, the solution will be fully developed during the first half of 2015.

eSI aims to establish a security hub and intelligence network between residential communities. The gathering of security information from each individualised establishment and organisation, and the sharing and dissemination of such information, is the key to empower various associations, businesses, management agencies and communities to contribute to crime prevention and a safer living and work environment. The key is that the information is made available as overall stats and not as a reflection on any one member.

eSI therefore creates a platform for its members to participate in focused security surveys and questionnaires, forums and an interactive member website of which the outcome and/or statistical reports thereof are communicated amongst its members. This information will assist all members in understanding the current crime and security trends within the estate environment specific to each member’s area, province and the country as a whole, and will assist in the development of benchmarking and establishing best practice within the industry.

Target market

All estates and residential communities including wine, gated and lifestyle estates, body corporates, homeowners associations, sectional title schemes, retirement villages etc. Any community that has a boundary, physical or not, which is managed by access and egress points? The registration will only be open to the estate security manager or a person nominated by the estate.

All registered and paid members (estates and residential communities) have access to login to their personalised dashboard. Each member can nominate up to three users which will have access to the online members profile, captured trends and statistics, forums and blogs, and general security information provided.

Only one user will have access to upload information on the online occurrence and incident platform and admittance to complete the focused security surveys and questionnaires. This user is usually reserved for the onsite security manager, personnel or contractor.

The success will rely on the estate security community taking part, to create a large enough user base for useful stats to be generated. We look forward to the industry taking part in an opportunity to share information and skills that will result in better informed decisions.
