Real-time threat detection for outdoor facilities

November 2014 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

Emza Visual Sense, an Israeli developer of visual sensors is bringing a fully autonomous intelligent IP video surveillance sensor for outdoor intrusion detection and perimeter protection, based on its patented WiseEye technology. Emza, repreented locally by ST-SS, designed its products to be a guard-level solution with better performance, even under tough weather conditions.

Traditionally, in these conditions it is very difficult for a video surveillance solution to distinguish between normal background changes and a real intrusion event. The WiseEye is a tiny, palm size intelligent IP video sensor that is connected to any standard IP network. It detects intruders at a distance of 100 metres and vehicles from 200 metres away. The WiseEye requires a fraction of the bandwidth needed for remote video solution since it pushes its video alerts (with graphic overlay showing the intruder) only when a real intrusion event is detected. The alert event can be stored locally and is pushed either to remote monitoring room, a mobile phone or to the online video storage on the Internet.

The product is weatherproof (IP66), which means you can mount this miniature 200-gram device on a pole, fence line, roof, wall, gate entry etc., without adding any enclosure for weather protection.

Introduced in 2007, the WiseEye is a pioneer of the next generation intelligent IP cameras. It is used as an autonomous and intelligent video device that acts as a virtual guard that transmits verified video alerts through any available channels (cable, ADSL, cellular, satellite etc.), eliminating the need for high bandwidth infrastructure at remote locations.

As a real-time event driven system, the operator in the control room can immediately respond to the event and take the necessary action to prevent damage or loss. Each WiseEye transmits the verification video that shows the exact cause of that event by adding graphic overlay (a red rectangle) around the object. In that way the operator can take an immediate decision on how to act (send a patrol, call the police etc.).

The system is securely accessible and can be configured remotely. There is no need for a technician to visit the site, everything can be done from a remote control room. The unit is simple to use (plug ‘n play) and requires minimum power consumption (12 V d.c., 2.5 W).

The product is used where you are required to protect your assets from sabotage, theft, terror or vandalism and the video transmission is automatically adjusted to the available bandwidth. As the product does not contain any mechanical moving elements and is weatherproof, it is actually maintenance free, saving on the cost of maintenance.

Currently Emza offers three product lines:

• WiseEye – Emza’s first autonomous, intelligent IP video sensor for complete outdoor intrusion detection, 24x7 operation.

• WiseShield – An appliance platform that adds the WiseEye intelligence to any analogue camera NTSC/PAL, 25/30 fps, full D1.

• WiseShield-IP – An appliance platform that adds the WiseEye intelligence to IP cameras such as Axis, Mobotix, YCAM Bullet etc.

Some of the main product features include:

• Low false alarm rate.

• Day/Night operation with visible or invisible (IR) illumination.

• Full IP66 weatherproof.

• Auto scene learning within 10 seconds.

• Masking areas.

• Sterile zone/virtual fence/trigger line.

• Direction movement filtering.

• Various background changes filters.

• Object size filters by depth of view.

• Variety of notification methods:

- Remote access for setup and configuration, no need to send technician to the site.

- Different scheduling for each unit.

- On site archiving and recording unit.

- Events recording database and search engine for events history.

- Open and free API to any third party surveillance and video management system.
