ASSA ABLOY South Africa acquires Traka

November 2014 News & Events

Global leader in door opening solutions, ASSA ABLOY, has, over the past 20 years, expanded its product portfolio through numerous acquisitions of premium international brands. The acquisition in 2014 of Traka Africa as a specialist in the security field with an unique security product portfolio, was an easy and lucrative business decision.

Traka Africa was established in 2001 when a need for key control in the sub-Saharan market was identified. “From a choice of several systems, we selected the most superior product and are delighted to be the official sub-Saharan distributor for the Traka key management system focusing on keying solutions mainly for the mining, engineering and industrial sectors,” comments Quintin Boukan, ASSA ABLOY South Africa’s vice president – commercial sales.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, Traka encompasses the following electronic key management systems: electronic key cabinets, electronic key boxes, key control, key management, asset control, truck data logging, access control, lockers and software. The Traka system has evolved through many years of working closely with some of the world’s largest corporations; development is ongoing to address new opportunities.

While every market can benefit from key control, Traka Africa specialises primarily in the industrial, medical, aviation, defence, petrochemical and mining sectors. Military establishments, financial and correctional institutions, museums and casinos also benefit from the tried and tested Traka products which are used 24/7 around the world.

“Security breaches can significantly affect the smooth running of any business, which is why we take our clients’ requirements very seriously,” continues Boukan. “So when it comes to security, we provide nothing but the most competent security solutions from Traka that allow our clients to focus exclusively on their core business.”

Traka Africa’s list of certifications and standards include BEE Certification, Lenel Open Access Alliance Program Partner, AES 256 Data Encryption, CEE and UL Certification.

Traka Africa’s compliance and trade associations include:

• UK Trade and Investment.

• Business Link Federation of Small Businesses Chamber of Commerce – Milton Keynes.

• Safe Contractor Scheme.

• Construction Skills Certification Scheme.

• Traka Engineers and Project Managers have attained CSCS Health & Safety Certification.
