Questek displays Barco technology

August 2014 News & Events

Questek Advanced Technologies, local Barco supplier, recently held an open day in which the company provided customers an overview of the latest imaging solutions available from Barco. The company has been providing imaging solutions covering boardrooms, control centres and outdoor displays, among other solutions, for years. It is also known as a video wall integrator in southern Africa with a history of successful large control room projects in the region for traffic management, surveillance, utilities, process control and broadcasting. It has installed solutions with clients such as Transnet, Telkom, Telecom Namibia, SABC, Eskom and Gautrain.

The open day demonstrated Barco’s existing technologies as well as its recent advances in display technology, from desktop displays to large outdoor solutions. The company also provides large panoramic seamless canvas displays without the distraction of seams or bezels. It also offers a curved display that meets the visualisation needs of a multitude of applications.

Depending on the Barco products selected, new display technology is available with automatic colour and brightness calibration. With its SenseX automatic colour and brightness calibration system, you are able to calibrate an entire wall within minutes, without any external sensor or manual intervention.

Customers can also use the network to transfer images to their display units, whether a single screen or a multi-screen wall without the need for an external controller or player. Users simply connect the screens to the network, configure the settings and play the content.

Representatives from Barco were also on site to introduce the company’s new collaboration solution, ClickShare, a collaboration tool that allows all participants in a meeting to share content. Whether using a laptop PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android device, users can present content on a central meeting room screen easily via the ClickShare Button.

The ClickShare Button is a USB-powered device that connects to a laptop’s USB port. Users start the application and click the button to have their laptop’s screen content transferred instantly to a larger display using the network. Every ClickShare Button is paired with a ClickShare Base Unit so meeting participants can connect a button and start sharing without a problem.

A benefit of this technology is that the ClickShare Button does not change your laptop’s screen resolution, but displays the best possible resolution on the central meeting room screen. Users can also share their laptop’s sound through the meeting room’s audio system. Downloading the ClickShare apps to your mobile device allows you to have the same functionality.
