Cloudview announces support for IP

June 2014 Surveillance

Cloudview has announced support for IP as well as analogue cameras as part of a free update to its cloud-based Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) solution.

“A key benefit of the cloud is the ability to deliver extra functionality at no extra cost,” says Cloudview CEO, James Wickes. “As part of our commitment to continual improvement, this update will further extend the reach of the Cloudview service allowing customers to upload and manage surveillance footage regardless of camera technology involved.”

The current release enables customers with analogue cameras to upload footage simply by connecting the tiny Visual Network Adaptor (VNA) to the analogue video feed. This update allows digital video from IP-based cameras to also be captured and uploaded to the cloud and in exactly the same manner, using the same VNA hardware, again, without impacting existing local monitoring and recording arrangements.

Footage is stored in the customer’s existing Cloudview inbox with the same on-demand options available to start recording in response to movement and/or triggers from external sensors.

“This release widens the gap between Cloudview and other VSaas services,” says Wickes, “enabling customers to build scalable and comprehensive surveillance solutions, with or without a local recording infrastructure.”
