The RFID technology used with the Cardax Prox (TIRIS Series) is based on Texas Instruments' TIRIS system using FM wireless technology.
The TIRIS Series comprises the Cardax Prox, Cardax Prox Plus and Cardax LR (long range) readers.
Prox (TIRIS Series)
The Cardax Prox TIRIS reader is a card-only reader, providing fast, secure access by passing a card transponder across the face of the unit. The reader is designed for use in both interior and exterior environments.
Prox Plus
The Prox Plus reader is a card plus PIN unit, used where more security than card-only is required. The illuminated PIN pad allows a cardholder to enter a personal identification number in conjunction with a card. An LCD panel provides user feedback icons making the system easy to use internationally.
Prox LR
The Prox reader is a long range proximity reader allowing read ranges of up to 2 m with passive transponders. The Prox LR may be used for car parking, hands-free and asset tracking applications. The antenna is based on a simple wire loop antenna which can be built into a wide variety of structures. The read range may vary depending on ambient radio noise.
Security of the reader is enhanced by encryption and monitoring of the communications data between the reader and the reader interface. To suit a wide range of installation environments the reader housing is injection-moulded in a high-strength, high-impact-resistant engineering plastic alloy.
