Hat-trick of new development from Gyyr.

October 99 Surveillance

IFSEC '99 saw the official launch of three new products from Gyyr as the company promoted its systems approach to security.

Gyyr, an Odetics company represented in South Africa by Video Options, is well known for its established range of VCRs, multiplexers, motion detection, quads and transmission systems and is now rapidly establishing its name in access control to offer complete security systems for a wide range of applications.

Launched at IFSEC was the Tango Video Transmission System which employs Windows software on standard IBM computers and can be connected to any existing computer network. Standard Internet browsers allow viewing of CCTV generated pictures from any PC on the network, with the capacity for companies which have their own website to allow viewing of pictures from remote locations via their website for the price of a local telephone call.

Also introduced was the Quarterback, a system level controller which can accommodate multiple cameras, video multiplexers and VCRs from a single keyboard. Designed for simplicity of use and minimal operator training, Quarterback has four built-in video system inputs enabling easy tracking of a suspect via a three-axis joystick which controls pan, tilt and zoom.

Completing the trio of launch products is DVMS (digital video management system), a total system solution as video management moves into the digital age. DVMS offers a range of advantages over conventional analog technology including 24 hours of colour recording at up to 30 fields per second, sophisticated search parameters, a fault-tolerant realtime operating system and access to live and recorded digital video remotely from a PC workstation. Picture quality is also superior and networking is possible in all of the essential security system functions: digital video recording, motion detection and image transmission. DVMS can also be used with a range of multiplexers.

The end user can allocate space on the hard drive depending on the security requirements of a particular site and DVMS has been designed to allow easy upgrading to accommodate future needs.
