Exhibition highlights latest TSCM equipment

TSCM Services and Parinto, two of the leading companies in southern Africa supplying and distributing high quality professional equipment to government and the corporate security industry, have decided to pool their resources and will be doing a roadshow throughout South Africa in the next few months.

The roadshow will exhibit the latest professional countersurveillance and surveillance equipment. Technical surveillance countermeasures is still a neglected area, with many companies not yet realising that they are vulnerable to electronic eavesdropping attacks. The recent revelations about 'bugs' at the Reserve Bank served as a wake-up call, specifically for those responsible for security in the financial services industry.

Gauteng a success

Recently, the Gauteng equipment exhibition was held at the Centurion Lake Hotel, Centurion and was attended by more than a hundred visitors from the government, local embassies, security companies and various other industries. Regular demonstrations were done during the exhibition, such as the need for and the effectiveness of encryption, when telephone and fax lines are intercepted.

Parinto displayed various technical devices that can be used during investigations to collect audio and video evidence as well as a wide range of audio surveillance equipment from Spectronics (Denmark). TSCM Services displayed a wide range of countersurveillance equipment. A corner of the company's display was specifically dedicated to counter-surveillance equipment dating back 15-20 years to demonstrate development in this area over the past two decades.

Equipment that attracted attention were the latest OSCOR TSCM countermeasures receiver now capable of detecting signals up to 21 000 MHz (21 GHz) with dedicated software, the Watchdog WS-100, stationary transmitter detector, the Hawk 450 and Orion nonlinear junction detectors with the Winkelmann telephone line analyser. Furthermore, VIP Technologies of Pretoria has decided to join TSCM Services and Parinto for the future exhibitions. VIP Technologies specialise exclusively in visual inspection products.

The next equipment exhibition with TSCM Services, Parinto and VIP Technologies will take place in Durban towards the end of November 2001. The venue and dates are being finalised.
