Provicom was established in 1985 and specialised in design, manufacture, supply, installation and maintenance of an extensive range of professional products and systems for the electronic commercial industry and entertainment market. By becoming part of Shield Electronics, Provicom has also entered a market which offers in-house rental options which are utilised by Bidvest.

The decision to change the name from Shield to Provicom was taken because Shield has years of experience in the market.

The Head Office, which is based on the same premises as the Gauteng division, is headed by Managing Director Steve van Aswegen. Working with van Aswegen is PRO, Sureen Nel.
