Elvey reboots to add value

April 2014 News & Events

Elvey Security Technologies, part of the Hudaco Group, has been one of the largest and most recognised distributors in the security industry for years. The company distributes everything from intrusion products through to high-end CCTV cameras and management platforms and more. It also bought Pentagon in 2011, a specialist distributor and project consultant to broaden its scope in the market.

The first news Elvey released is its move to new premises. Having spent the past few decades working from two buildings in Julbert Road in Benrose, Elvey’s CEO, Jack Edery says the company has decided to move to a larger, more modern location.

“Due to the growth we experienced over the years, we had to split our training facility and Johannesburg branch into separate buildings to accommodate having the head office in one location,” Edery explains. “This was an imperfect solution for Elvey and our customers so the decision was made to move.”

Elvey’s new head office, along with the Johannesburg branch and improved training facilities will now be located in the Elvey Techno Park, at 27 Greenhill Place, Greenstone. Edery explains that the new premises is 'state of the art' and is more conveniently situated for suppliers and customers.

More than simply moving all of Elvey under one roof, Elvey Techno Park will be a more upmarket facility, with improved training facilities, a sophisticated repair centre, double the warehouse space as well as a sales counter. Pentagon will be moving into the same premises, but will continue to operate independently with its own entrance and sales counter and demonstration area.

One of the main improvements in the new premises will be a fully stocked demonstration area where customers will be able to get hands-on experience with products and have experts on hand to answer their questions.

Customer focused

“We intend to make full use of these facilities and plan to have regular customer days, at least every second week, where we invite customers to visit, explore the premises and products we have on offer,” Edery adds. “We also have a large entertainment area on the roof with fantastic views of Johannesburg, where customers and suppliers can relax and network.

“Our goal is not simply to offer more products to clients, but to create additional value for clients by providing better service and advice, as well as providing a platform where clients and suppliers can interact. These modern facilities will allow Elvey to provide a better service in all areas of our customers’ experience.

“The same applies to Pentagon, which will continue to focus on projects and complex integration challenges from its own offices, where the team will be able to provide even better services to their customer base.”

On the road

Elvey will be holding its own events this year, designed to add value to customers’ needs in locations more convenient to them.

He adds that some of Elvey’s suppliers have decided to partner with Elvey in these focused events. The first event will be held in Port Elizabeth on 13th to 14th May 2014, with repeat events to be held in Cape Town on 20th to 21st May 2014, in Durban on 27th to 28th May 2014, and in Johannesburg on 3rd to 4th June 2014.

In the next issue we will print the second half of the Hi-Tech Security Solutions’ interview with Jack Edery, drilling down into the desired results of Elvey’s focus on the customer.
