Revolving doors to health

March 2014 Access Control & Identity Management

Pedestrian Door Solutions (PDS) specialists, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, recently completed the commissioning of revolving doors at the main entrances of two Virgin Active health clubs in Gauteng.

“Virgin Active in Hatfield North, Pretoria, revamped its sliding door at its main entrance to a revolving door entrance and the revolving door supplied to Bryon Park in Johannesburg North is part of an extension and large upgrade of the existing gym,” explains ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems MD, André Aiton.

According to Aiton, the revolving door concept is pedestrian, security and environmentally friendly. “It is important for Virgin Active that their members can access and exit the facility with ease; our revolving door solution offers convenient, uninterrupted entrance and exit availability,” continues Aiton. ”Furthermore, the door saves on energy costs by preventing the air-conditioned atmosphere from escaping and causing draughts. It is also serves as added security.” Installation and commissioning of the two KDB-4-2400 revolving door systems were completed in 2013.

Aiton attributes the successful order from Virgin Active to a number of factors: “Firstly we offered a solution that works for our customer and that meets the gym’s requirements. In other words, we offered a good product at a competitive price, backed by service excellence. In addition, we are associated with international Swedish giant, ASSA ABLOY, a global leading specialist in the manufacture and supply of door opening systems. With backup facilities in all major cities in South Africa as well as other northern African countries, we combine local knowledge with global expertise and product innovation. This gives customers peace of mind.”

PDS entrance systems present secure, comfortable access without detracting from the aesthetics of buildings and are extensively specified for medical clinics, shopping centres, malls, banks, airports, hotels, fast food chains, casinos and many other facilities that demand security conscious, customer-friendly, reliable and attractive door opening systems.
