Turnstar moves to larger premises

February 2014 News & Events

In order to accommodate the growth in demand for its range of access control products, Turnstar Systems has moved to larger premises adjacent to its current factory and warehouse in Wynberg, Johannesburg.

Established in 1990, Turnstar provides a total solution for all physical access control and time & attendance (T&A) applications. The new factory and head office will provide more than double the current available space. “We have outgrown our 3500 m² factory premises and the new 7500 m² capacity facility will enable us to meet the current customer demand,” said Turnstar director, Craig Sacks.

Sacks pointed out not only will the new facility enable the company to provide high-speed turnaround on products, but it will also contain a state-of-the-art powder coating plant. The new powder coating plant will allow us to increase throughput and improve the quality of the paint finish which means that not only will the delivery times be improved, but we will also have full control over the end quality on site.”

Turnstar is a member of the Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association (SASSDA) and recently won a Product of the Year award from SASSDA. “We take quality control on our manufacturing processes very seriously. Access products need to be made to last as they are often installed in harsh and demanding climates and applications. Our credo is to provide products that will provide years of uninterrupted service,” said Sacks.

The company’s production facility is constantly reviewed and upgraded to ensure that customers benefit from the latest in manufacturing technology trends. In addition to the powder coating plant, the facilities include a CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, robotic welder, mandrel tube bender, pyramid roller, hydraulic press brake and various other machines.
