National Certificate in Electronic Security Management

November 2013 News & Events, Conferences & Events

Lack of education and training opportunities in the past have left their mark on many current employees. Learning deficits mean that employees often find it difficult to understand and optimise modern production, information and security systems.

Many workers have already acquired competencies around the tasks they perform in their jobs, but have never had access to the knowledge base or general education relating to their areas of work, or achieved accredited qualifications.

Learnerships offer an opportunity for companies to help up-skill and refocus the efforts of employees. By coupling the concept of a learning organisation to learnerships, enterprises can assist in the development of the employees and in the achievement of their organisational objectives by using the opportunities presented by appropriate structured workplace-based learning programmes.

In these cases, the learnerships could both address gaps and deficits in the employees while providing the skills and knowledge required adapting to new technologies, opportunities and challenges.

Growth College in collaboration with the EWSETA now offers a National Certificate in Electronic Security Management. This learnership programme is for the employed, pre-employed and unemployed persons working in the electronic security industry or are interested in working in this industry. It is designed to recognise the skills required for designing, installing, and commissioning electronic security systems, such as electric fencing, intruder alarms, closed circuit television, access control and intercom systems.

The course consists of a Core, Fundamental and an Elective Component and will run for 12 months fulltime and 18 months part time.

This course is offered at Growth’s Campuses in Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town. Growth College is also recognised in neighbouring African countries and therefore extend this invitation to all African countries wishing to partake in this learning opportunity.
