Sesco launches new upgraded Rokonet Orbit-6 panel

October 99 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

If the best things come in small packages, then the new dome camera system from Vicon Industries is set to be the hottest product of the year.

Demonstrated at IFSEC '99 for the first time, the Surveyor '99 has all the quality engineering pedigree of its big brother, the Surveyor V7 advanced mini dome system, but is a more compact 5" model.

It is set to appeal to a wider market due to its attractive pricing.

Vicon was the first company to manufacture high-quality domes and this research and development project has produced a major mini dome system in a minor package.

System overview

There are significant software developments including a comprehensive tour package with a self-learning mode that records movement sets and stores them as individual tours. These self-learnt tours can be combined with standard tours and can be edited in sequence.

Uniquely each dome contains a realtime clock allowing independent programming of auto start/stop for tours, presets, alarm enable/disable and relay output on/off.

The Surveyor '99's graphical configurator allows a complete set-up of a single or multiple dome to be programmed from a PC storing all the settings for future use or amendment.

The unit's flash memory feature means that operating system upgrades or foreign language menus can be easily downgraded and the separate drive mechanism allows it to operate independently from its housing. Set-up and testing can then be carried out prior to permanent mounting.

Vicon's on-going open protocol philosophy allows compatibility with leading control manufacturers' equipment.
