ViRDI

1 June 2013 News & Events

ViRDI will have a host of products on display at IFSEC SA this year.

Merging smartphone technology with biometric access control the ViRDI SMARTi connects to any mobile device using Apple’s IOS or Google’s Android operating systems via a free app called iUNIS. From the app the client is able to enrol user’s fingerprints, monitor user logs, monitor basic T&A as well as opening a door via the mobile device from anywhere in the world. It features IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi that can connect on a peer-to-peer basis with the mobile device or the SMARTi can connect to an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure to either connect to ViRDI’s UNIS Software or to connect via DDNS to any mobile device in the world. It is IP65 rated and features a 1,3 Mp camera that can be viewed live or take snapshots of users as transactions take place

ViRDI has recently launched a two-finger/rolling finger flatbed biometric scanner that has both AFIS and FBI approvals. ViRDI supplies the Fingerscan D unit with a software SDK so that the client can custom develop a software application that is fit for the purpose it is being used. Having both AFIS and FBI approval means that image quality on both two fingers scans and rolling finger scans are unsurpassed in quality

With current No Touch Exit Sensor’s there is an inherent security risk as the units function on infrared technology. Apart from this the units tend to be bulky and need extra mounting boxes when mounting on hard surfaces. ViRDI recognised these shortcomings and designed the ViRDI No Touch Exit Sensor. The unit functions on capacitive technology thereby negating the inherent security risk of infrared as well as addressing space and mounting requirements.

The ViRDI FOH04 is the next generation of the ViRDI USB biometric device. Commonly used as a fingerprint and RFID/SC take-on reader for ViRDI UNIS and ViRDI Quick Enrolment Manager, the ViRDI FOH04 has been designed with more security in mind. It features all the standard capabilities of the FOH02 but the lens section has been enlarged to garner a better quality fingerprint image. The ViRDI FOH04 has PIV from AFIS/FBI and can thus be used by governmental departments, law enforcement and the banking sector among others.

Although the ViRDI AC6000 has been around for some time, ViRDI recently developed the Version 2 which sees the AC6000 being able to integrate into the clients VoIP telephony system thereby making the AC6000 V2 a biometric access device as well as a video intercom system.

ViRDI has developed a Quick Enrolment Manager that needs no software development from access control vendors. The ViRDI Quick Enrolment Manager provides a software bridge between the existing GUI and the ViRDI Biometric devices making it possible to deploy ViRDI on any access control platform while the access control platform still maintains control of the access control system. The ViRDI Quick Enrolment Manager is Freeware with any ViRDI devices purchased from ViRDI Africa. Find ViRDI in Hall 2, Stand K03.
