Universal reader interface

September 2001 Access Control & Identity Management

The CardaxFT universal reader interface extends the CardaxFT system by integrating Cardax door readers and third party readers.

The controller is the field controller in the CardaxFT system, supporting 16 field devices. The door readers and third party readers attached to the universal reader interface do not count amongst these 16 field devices.

The universal reader interface supports the following Cardax door readers:

* Prox (125, Mifare and TIRIS series).

* Prox Plus (125, Mifare and TIRIS series).

* Prox LR (TIRIS series).

* Swipe (Magstripe).

* Swipe Plus.

Integrating third party readers

Using a 6-core cable connection, the CardaxFT universal reader interface is capable of supporting two Wiegand format readers and a large number of Wiegand formats. In addition to the readers, it can also support one third party keypad using 4 x 3 matrix wiring.

Inputs

The six balanced inputs on the CardaxFT universal reader interface are designed to be used as follows:

* Inputs for monitoring 'door open' state.

* Inputs for monitoring 'door locked' state.

* Auxiliary inputs for pushbutton exit control.

The inputs can also be used as normal input connections for other devices.
