Advanced charger Technology Europe (AEL) establishes nine new distributors.

Advanced Charger Technology Europe has announced nine new alliances to establish North-European distribution channels for the ACTivator chargers for two-way radio batteries. AEL Directors Gary Duffy and Garry Tomlins established AEL in November 1998 to represent ACT Inc., a division of enrev Corporation. The ACTivators are powered by the unique enrev battery operating system, a technological breakthrough in the performance and long-term reliability of battery-powered devices.

enrev technology is a software-driven solution that enables batteries to charge faster, achieve higher capacity between charges and last as much as three times longer so battery-powered devices deliver peak performance with every use. enrev technology eliminates the need for battery maintenance programmes and offers significant environmental benefits by extending battery life.

"The European police experience about a 1% battery failure with their portable radios per week due to inappropriate charging technology. If that failure occurs at the wrong time, the repercussions could be terrible," reports Garry Tomlins. "Shift patterns, poor charging habits and chargers that simply do not cater for the real human factors existing in the field have created the need for an economically-sound, user-friendly solution to rechargeable battery problems. Our distributors recognise this, and are eager to bring ACT products to their public safety customers in Europe."

The new distributors include: ACT UK, England; SAIT Devlonics, Belgium; Vums Powerprag, Czech Republic; Infocom, Denmark; Insmat, Finland; Netherlands; Power Controls, Norway; Business Power Systems, Poland; Johanssons (JMR), Sweden; and ACT Germany, located in Munich.

The Activator chargers were designed specifically for the European two-way radio and TETRA markets and support over 80 radio types, including Motorola, Kenwood and Ericsson radios. The microprocessor-controlled charging system is user-friendly for all radio operators. The ultra-fast ACTivators use real-time feedback to recondition batteries as they charge, increase battery capacity and extend battery life. A 1000 mA.h NiCd battery can be fully charged in less than 30 min. Currently under evaluation by over 20 major European police forces, ACTivators are used by over 150 police forces worldwide as well as thousands of users in public safety, correctional institutions, casinos and railroads.
