AD expands Illustra IP cameras

November 2012 Surveillance, Products & Solutions

American Dynamics, part of Tyco Security Products, announced recently several new additions to its Illustra line of IP cameras with the introduction of the Illustra 210 and 610LT Mini-Domes, and the addition of a new Theia telephoto lens for its Illustra 600/610 Mini-Domes.

The Illustra 210 Mini-Domes offer Standard Definition (SD) resolution, and include auto-focus and motorised zoom. The indoor mini-dome comes with a UL plenum-rated mount and features a built-in heater ring that prevents condensation build up, which is detrimental to the camera. In addition, these mini-domes offer superior quality in low light, and are designed with three mounting options for hard surface, electrical box and recessed mounts built into the dome. These cameras are ideal for businesses seeking a cost-effective, yet high-quality camera.

The Illustra 610LT model is an indoor high-definition camera that offers 1080p HD. This camera also includes an auto-focus and motorised zoom lens and recessed plenum-rated mount to meet indoor environmental standards. An economical choice for businesses, this camera comes without audio, alarm contacts or other add-ons, when a full-featured high-definition camera is not required.

The new Theia telephoto lens fits the Illustra 600 and 610 Mini-Domes, and helps customers avoid the need for ‘trenching’. Used either indoor or outdoor, the 9-40 mm lens magnifies far away objects for unobstructed views. The lens is IR corrected, ensuring that the camera stays in focus, transitioning easily to and from colour mode.

“Everyone is looking for an economical solution, but they want all the benefits and features of a high-quality IP camera,” said Steve Carney, director of product management for American Dynamics. “The expansion of our Illustra line of IP cameras provides greater options in the IP cameras, with excellent quality and features that lead today’s market in versatility and ease of use.”

Carney added, “We spare no expense in an effort to maximise the ease of use and install for integrators. That is why we have extended our use of autofocus and IR corrected lenses to our standard definition and mid-priced megapixel cameras, when others eliminate those features at these price points.”

The Illustra 200 and 600 Series Mini-Domes integrate with a variety of ONVIF-compliant NVRs and hybrid recorders, including the American Dynamics VideoEdge NVR and HDVR.
