AIT attracts world leaders to its team.

October 99 Surveillance

Michael Victor, Chairman of Automated Identification Technologies (AIT), pioneers of the innovative Link-it Radio Frequency (RFID) product range, has made the following announcement:

p AIT has opened an office in California in the US, which will start with operations in the very near future.

p Bryan Nelson, a well known personality in the international IT industry, formally from Microsoft, has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer responsible for the worldwide management of AIT. This appointment is with immediate effect.

p AIT is also very proud to announce the appointment of Don Small, previously from the HID Corporation, a world leader in access card technology, as the Chief Operations Officer of the Group. Don Small will also be the President of AIT in the US. This appointment is also with immediate effect.

With these two very senior appointments AIT is showing their intentions to become a serious player in the world market of RFID. This market has grown from $226M two years ago to an estimated $1000M for this year. To date this market has been dominated by the passive tag with its relative short read range capabilities. The active Link-it tag with its unique properties opens opportunities in many vertical markets outside the traditional security applications.
