IP surveillance system for Fischer

July 2012 Surveillance

Fischer South Africa is based in Hennopspark, Centurion. The group has been in existence since 1990. It wanted to update its old analogue system and add cameras to their new factory, as it was being built. It approached Keystone Online to supply and install a new IP surveillance system.

The project was done in two phases, the first phase started with the existing factory. The main objective was to give it high quality cameras to monitor logistics and cover the high-risk areas, both within and outside the factory. The goal was to improve image quality and thereby minimise theft.

To achieve this, Vivotek IP8352 day/night bullet cameras were installed. These cameras form part of the Vivotek Supreme series and come with a vari-focal lens and a 1.3 Megapixel image sensor.

Critically, these units have good night visibility, as the factory is operational 24 hours a day. The IP8352 captures not only razor-sharp images of fast-moving objects during the daytime (60 fps), but also offers unparalleled night visibility under low light conditions.

New turnstiles were implemented at the gates for better access control for staff members and customers. For these points, Keystone installed Vivotek FD8162 fixed dome cameras, also part of the Vivotek Supreme series with vari-focal lens, two megapixel and two-way audio. The FD8162 offers extra smooth HD video quality thanks to the use of high-performance H.264 compression technology. The camera is equipped with a focus assist button, allowing users to precisely adjust the camera focus, making it a very easy camera to install. Now, if any issue occurs at the turnstiles, footage can be retrieved quickly for review.
