High-end digital video management system

August 2001 Surveillance

Sensormatic Distribution has announced the impending South African release of the latest version of Intellex, its popular digital video management system. The new version of Intellex, series 2.1, is more powerful than its predecessors and boasts many new features, making it simpler to operate. What is even more exciting is that it will now be available at a third of its original price.

"Intellex 2.1 provides significant advances in the efficiency of remotely viewing live or pre-recorded video" says Brian Hill, General Manager of Sensormatic Distribution. "Our customers have been asking for greater flexibility, better pricing and enhanced capabilities in managing video data, at the same time as keeping demands on bandwidth as low as possible. The new release of Intellex comfortably addresses all of these requirements."

Intellex's remote access capability allows it to be used in a multitude of ways, including remote site management and remote guard tours, reducing the need for local presence. Intellex helps users manage operations by allowing them to view and analyse vital information the way they choose, and from where and when they choose. Systems can even be configured remotely. A single Intellex unit is capable of hosting multiple remote users, and users also have the ability to access multiple Intellex units from any Internet connection.

Some of the features and benefits of the new version of Intellex are reflected in the table.

With this powerful new feature set, which includes all of the previous Intellex features, plus full network connectivity (WAN, LAN and dial-up), remote configuration, and streaming of live video, Sensormatic is now able to significantly expand its value position for customers.

The increased configuration options, such as SCSI-only version and flexibility of storage space from 60 to 320 GB give recording durations for as much as 700 h of recording as well as higher flexibility in configuring the system to customers' needs.

Sensormatic is the leading supplier of electronic security technology, globally and within South Africa.
