The HandReader supplied locally by VELOCIT-e is a biometric system developed by Recognition Systems for personnel recognition applications. The system is now being used by companies in most industries.
For time/attendance/payroll use, employees use the keypad to enter their ID number and then place their right hand in the HandReader. The image of their hand is compared to the 'template' stored in the system's memory. If the current image matches the template, the employee's identity is verified. Total time required for verification is a mere 1 s. Because every person's hand is unique, the HandReader provides a quick and accurate way to record in and out times for each employee.
In addition, the unit is able to transmit an employee's in and out transactions to time/attendance/payroll software, and multiple units can be tied into a central time and attendance record keeping system. Interface software can be tailored to meet multiple record keeping needs, including programmable data management keys that collect specific data when employees' hands are verified.
Furthermore, there are no swipe cards to issue, replace when lost or stolen, or recover when an employee leaves or is terminated. Because the HandReader provides full interface with all popular time and attendance software, there is no need to make any changes in existing software or programming.
