Manage endpoint security from Smartphones

1 March 2012 Information Security

Comodo has announced a mobile app that enables small business IT staff to manage endpoint security from a smartphone.

Released to the Microsoft Windows Phone Marketplace today, the Comodo Endpoint Security Manager Console for Microsoft Windows Phone mobile app takes full advantage of the latest Mango phones and alerts users to changes in the endpoint security status of their environment. It provides views of the status of antivirus updates, compliance and malware detections for all endpoints protected by Comodo Internet Security antivirus and firewall software and managed by Comodo Endpoint Security Manager 2.0 Business Edition. The app's Active Reports with built-in remediation make it possible for IT admins to more quickly respond to security issues right from their smartphone as problems arise.

The mobile app extends the reach of Endpoint Security Manager 2.0 Business Edition, designed by Comodo to address the security monitoring and management needs of small- to mid-sized business owners and other computer users with limited time and IT support resources.

Comodo Endpoint Security Manager 2.0 Business Edition allows business users and IT staff to centrally deploy, manage and maintain Comodo Internet Security (CIS) 2012 antimalware and firewall software on networked PCs. CIS applies a rules-based Default Deny Protection security paradigm to endpoint machines and uses proprietary Defense+ Auto Sandbox Technology to isolate untrusted files in a virtual environment where they cannot compromise sensitive corporate data or resources. This provides the strongest possible shield against zero-day malware without interrupting the daily workflows of businesses or their employees.

Using the new version of Comodo's Internet Security software and Endpoint Security Manager (ESM) 2.0 software for small businesses announced late last year, Comodo greatly reduced the time needed to configure, test and deploy and manage network-wide endpoint security. Improvements in console usability allow businesses to accomplish in hours what may currently have taken days. In addition to the savings business owners can realise via increased productivity, ESM's support for a non-dedicated management server can save business owners thousands of dollars in hidden costs of server software and hardware, and the improvements in antimalware technology can save them hundreds of dollars over using competitive solutions.

Ideal for organisations with 100 employees or fewer, Comodo ESM has simplified security administration by:

* Centrally enforcing configuration policy on all endpoints to insure the protection designed by the administrator is in effect company-wide.

* Using location-aware configuration policies that apply appropriate security policies depending on whether the endpoint is local or connected via the Internet.

* Consolidating information on active threats that may lead to a malware outbreak.

* Upgrading standalone installations so as to provide organisation-wide security and compliance monitoring.

* Reducing console complexity and increasing accessibility via a web browser and now, with this latest release, a Microsoft Windows Phone.

Endpoint Security Manager Console for Windows Phone is free to current owners of Comodo Endpoint Security Manager 2.0 Business Edition.
