March 2012 Surveillance

Access Control and Time & Attendance specialist ERS Biometrics, is the top 2012 reseller in South Africa of ZKTeco fingerprint recognition devices, marketed as ERS SmartScan. This represents 65% of local sales of the hardware which is used in over 180 countries.

ZKTeco product range of security and time management systems is distributed here by official subsidiary, ZKTeco South Africa.

With over 5000 clients and sites throughout Africa, ERS Biometrics is a leading developer and vendor of software solutions for businesses in T & A, access control, job costing and payroll administration. Its use of wireless technology allows for on-line, real-time management and control of these functions with proven advantages for human resources by eliminating manual capturing of data, with accurate and comprehensive input on all aspects of employee work attendance. This can translate into a 15% saving on payroll.

The T & A clocking systems cater for both fingerprint as well as cards, if required. Communication to the server is via LAN, WiFi or GPRS. The SmartScan access control device for doors and turnstiles is also available in a stainless steel IP54 weatherproof version. The ERS portable T & A unit, which is used widely throughout the mining, construction, labour brokers, security etc industries on remote sites, has a 24 hour battery back-up to store 200 000 records if GPRS communication is unavailable.

At a recent awards function hosted by payroll and HR solutions provider Softline VIP, ERS Biometrics was also recognised as the top business partner of the year in the time & attendance industry category.

At the same awards, local electronic design and manufacture company, Trac-Tech, was the recipient of the VIP Payroll Business Partner of the Year award for 2012 in the Western Cape.

“Trac-Tech has the highest possible level of partnership – Silver Business Partner. This means that the company is required to provide VIP with five to ten referrals per quarter and one sale of a VIP product. Trac-Tech far exceeds these quotas on a consistent basis, making it the obvious choice for this year’s award,” said Christelle Els, business partner consultant at VIP.

According to Els, the awards are determined strictly by statistics gathered throughout a 12-month period, based on the generation of sales, either as a result of referrals to third-party companies or direct purchases by the company for a third party.
