Dodging the bullet

November 2011 Security Services & Risk Management, Transport (Industry)

Armormax bullet resistant vehicles live up to their reputation.

Some may have wondered about a leading security company’s decision to armour its entire national fleet of reaction vehicles, but after two recent attacks on their personnel reacting to a call out from clients, this decision has been soundly vindicated. In the most recent attack, a round fired by the assailants from an AK 47 would have impacted the reaction officer’s head. Instead, the round was deflected by the armoured Face Shield (a ballistic insert, mounted just inside the vehicle’s side windows).

A leading security company and its parent company has gone to great lengths to ensure its reaction personnel are the best equipped and best protected in the industry. The project to armour around 800 reaction vehicles commenced in late June, and by September it had been completed.

They were armoured by the South African division of Armormax, part of the International Armoring Corporation group based in the USA. Using the same easy install concept used by IAC in armouring over 1500 Humvees in field during the Gulf War, the armour is easily installed by qualified Armormax technicians and just as easily removed with no sign of the armour installation.
