With the increase in sophisticated crime choosing a security seal requires extra care. One of the most common mistakes is trying to save money by choosing 'low security' seals - an expensive decision in the long run. Prevention is the most effective and ultimately the cheapest way in fighting crime.
When choosing a seal there are some misconceptions that must be avoided:
* Choosing a seal in relation to the content value. This is a mistake. The real issue is: how expensive would be the replacement of missing goods? How costly would be the loss of image for both the forwarder and the supplier when a client is unhappy with the shipment? Furthermore, this kind of occurrence inevitably causes confrontations and a loss of trust between the service provider/supplier and the employer/employees.
* Obsolete systems. Security procedures and seals need to be constantly up-graded. The attitude 'it has been like this for years why change?' is dangerous. Crime offenders think differently and day by day they look for loopholes in the system to attack it successfully.
