ERS biometrics to supply T&A and access control software to Nigeria.

Pretoria-based ERS Biometrics has signed an agreement to supply fingerprint identification access control and time and attendance systems to Nigerian telecommunications company, SB Telecoms. The deal adds credence to the South African company’s goal of fast track expansion into Africa.

Established for seven years with headquarters in Lagos, SB Telecoms is a telecommunications and IT service company, specialising in telecoms brokering and consulting, IT, biometrics security and equipment supply and installations. It has created a niche by focusing on value-added services to penetrate the ever competitive industry. Together with several prominent business partners, SB Telecoms serves clients ranging from corporate organisations, financial institutions, hospitals and most governmental departments.

According to Isma’il Shado, SB Telecoms’ head of IT who was in SA to undergo full training on the ERS Biometrics software, the choice of system was influenced by features such as ease of set-up and the flexibility to be adapted to specified client applications. “There is huge potential in Nigeria for access control, T&A, and shift management systems. We have enhanced our portfolio of offerings by now adding this new business module in response to the many requests from clients who want to measure workers’ efficiency.”

Marketed under the brand name of TAMS (Time and Access Management Systems), SB Telecoms’ staff will provide first tier software query support, with ERS Biometrics providing on-line Internet support. “It is a first of its kind in this part of the world,” Isma’il said.
