Petrochemical giants, Shell and Total have embarked on a nationwide campaign to improve the security measures at their service stations through the use of cameras, lenses, multiplexers and VTRs supplied by Panasonic.
Alan Lawrence, Central Maintenance Co-ordinator for Shell, says that about 10 Shell service stations have already had the new equipment installed. "So far, we are very happy with the equipment and feel secure in the knowledge that our customers and staff are safer."
The petrochemical industry is an area of focus for Panasonic. Mags Anthony, Director of Panasonic's CCVE Systems Department says, "The purchase of security systems for service stations started out as a grudge-buy to combat crime, but now the petrochemical industry is realising the benefit of the systems as a total management system too. Not only do the cameras help to identify potential criminals but they can also be used as a tool to monitor productivity and to analyse the flow of vehicles as well as staff behaviour," comments Anthony.
Retail Sales Manager for Total, Anthony Siebert agrees that the new security systems will act as a deterrent for criminals and that they will also be useful tools for site management. "It is always difficult to make an initial decision about which supplier you will use. The Panasonic products we have acquired through AV Electronics are able to provide us with the reliability, back-up service and spare parts we require. The products also offer good value for money in terms of quality."
