Free software with new standalone controllers

July 2001 Access Control & Identity Management

ControlSoft has announced that the latest release of its KeyMaster Lite access control package will be supplied free of charge with a new range of standalone access controllers.

According to ControlSoft Managing Director Russell Wagstaff, the move forms part of a vigorous effort to grow the company's share of the market for smaller access control systems. "Controlsoft has traditionally focused on developing top-end security solutions for large installations. With the release of KeyMaster Lite 3.0 and our new AC-310x range of standalone two-door and four-door controllers, we are offering installers powerful security features in an economical entry-level package," says Wagstaff.

Multilingual software

KeyMaster Lite 3.0 runs on all 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/NT/2000/Me) and has the same 'look and feel' as popular office applications. The software makes it easy to define system hardware, configure access control permissions, set up anti-passback and zone control, manage cardholder databases, generate reports and export data. Installers can customise KeyMaster Lite to provide interfaces in more than 70 languages. Afrikaans and French versions are already available, while Spanish, Danish, German, Greek and Portuguese versions are in progress.

Standalone controllers

In KeyMaster Lite systems, all access control decisions are made by AC-310x standalone controllers, which maintain full functionality in offline mode. AC-310x series access controllers can control proximity scanners, clocking terminals, PIN keypads, remote I/O units and display units connected to the RS485 interface. Both the KeyMaster Lite 3.0 software and AC-310x series controller firmware support bi-directional portals such as booths and turnstiles.

The AC-3104 supports a maximum of eight proximity readers, enabling full anti-passback control of four doors, or control of up to eight doors without anti-passback. In addition, KeyMaster Lite workstations can communicate with controllers via direct serial port connections or dial-up modems. Controlsoft also supplies an Ethernet/RS232 adapter that makes it possible to connect to controllers via a corporate LAN or the Internet.
