Position releases new BioProx reader

Position Technology has announced the release of the BioProx, a new integrated biometric fingerprint verification and proximity reader (CR-BIOP-A). The BioProx provides secure access control for sensitive areas by integrating a fingerprint identification sensor with a proximity card reader. By requiring users to identify themselves twice via a fingerprint and presentation of a card, the BioProx guards highly secure areas from unauthorised access through lost or stolen proximity cards or card swapping.

The BioProx combines a world-class proven biometric engine with the high speed of the proximity technology used in the PosiProx family of products. The self-contained fingerprint identification and embedded proximity card reader are housed together in a modern case with an inconspicuous design.

Also suitable for time and attendance, the BioProx works with Position Technology's Centaur Tracker time and attendance software. With its plug-and-program ease of installation, the BioProx is easily retrofitted to existing systems or added to locations requiring heightened security, adding biometric security to existing access control systems.

The BioProx performs well in a variety of situations like dirty surfaces, making it ideal for factories, manufacturing plants, construction sites and other environments that were previously unable to implement a biometric solution. Position products are available in South Africa from TeqTrader.
