SASA golf day supports Bel Porto

August 2011 News & Events

Once a year, the Western Cape branch of the Security Association of South Africa holds a charity golf day and donates some or all of the proceeds to selected beneficiaries. This year an initial amount of R5000 was pledged to the Bel Porto School for children with special needs. On visiting the school to hand over the cheque, SASA was given a tour of the facility, as well as entertained by some of the children.

This year the golf day was held at the Durbanville Country Club and by all accounts the players had a wonderful day out. SASA hosted a full field of 30 four balls and introduced a few changes to the day which included, a half way house voucher, snacks during prize giving, more valuable prizes and the format of the competition which was a 4 ball alliance with two scores to count, which made it more fun and interesting for the players.

The following companies were sponsors of the day: Thorburn Security, Orbis Security, Enforce Security, HRF Security Services, Bloodhound, Elvey Security Technologies, G4S, Radio.Com, SA Management, Shilo Nunes, Sparks & Ellis, Nashua, Erinvale Golf Club, Stellenbosch Golf Club and Alexander Forbes.

Seeing the good work that the teachers and support staff were doing at the school, the SASA committee immediately decided to double the donation to R10 000. Unfortunately the presentation cheque had already been made out for R5000 so does not reflect the final amount given.
