Internet security leader steps up learning initiative, focusing on two of fastest growing and most vulnerable areas for online users

Extending its learning initiative aimed at providing users with valuable information on e-threats and security issues, BitDefender, has announced the availability of two new e-guides offering tips and insights on securing wireless networks and safe blogging.

An award-winning provider of innovative Internet security solutions, BitDefender launched its first e-guides in 2010 – focusing on child protection and 'safe surfing' for seniors – and also is working to educate users through regular e-threat alerts and advisories. The company is also the sponsor of MALWARECITY a free online resource for those interested in online security.

The Securing Wireless Networks Guide offers background and advice on how to shield home networks from intruders, details the risks of running and connecting to unsecured networks, provides insights on when and where extra security is needed and outlines the steps users should take when accessing hotspots.

The Safe Blogging Guide provides some basic guidelines for bloggers and spotlights issues like keeping a user’s blog and identity safe, tips on how to determine the difference between self-hosted blogs and those provided as a service by major blog enablers.

“Wireless networks and blogging are two of the fastest growing areas of Internet use today, and for this reason they are among the most vulnerable to e-threats,” said Catalin Cosoi, BitDefender’s head of online threats. “With these new e-guides, BitDefender is taking steps to empower users to protect themselves when setting up and access wireless networks and joining in the increasing blog dialogue.  It is another way BitDefender security experts are sharing their knowledge in malware prevention, identification and annihilation”.

All of BitDefender e-Guides are free for download. To download copies of the e-Guides please visit: http://www.bitdefender.com/world/view/e-guides.html
