Integration of time management and access control to boost efficiency

June 2001 Access Control & Identity Management

Kronos Systems, UK subsidiary of Kronos, a leader in frontline labour management solutions, has announced the establishment of a technology partnership with ControlSoft, a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider that develops Windows-based access control and asset security solutions.

The cooperation between Kronos and ControlSoft started in South Africa where the local, and sole sub-Saharan Kronos agents, JSE-listed CS Holdings' division CS Systems Integration, developed the V-Link software module to facilitate integration between Timekeeper and KeyMaster Pro. CS Systems Integration has used V-Link successfully for several projects, including the new Daimler-Chrysler plant in East London.

According to Simon Macpherson, Business Development and Operations Director of Kronos Systems, the partnership with ControlSoft will bring significant benefits for users of Kronos Timekeeper time management solutions. "By partnering with Controlsoft we give Kronos customers an opportunity to integrate their Timekeeper systems with a world-class security management solution. In addition to access control and intrusion alarm monitoring, KeyMaster Pro also provides asset tracking functionality, and it integrates readily with CCTV systems," said Macpherson.

Employees can use the same card at Kronos badge terminals and ControlSoft access control readers. The Kronos Connect software module allows users to capture employee data once, and to share the data between the time management and security control systems. Kronos Connect automatically synchronises employee data with the Kronos Timekeeper and ControlSoft KeyMaster Pro databases, both of which run under the SQL Server database management system.

"The single cardholder take-on procedure and dual-purpose badge enhance the integration between Kronos Timekeeper and ControlSoft KeyMaster Pro. This synergy helps organisations to reduce labour costs and improve productivity while protecting their people and assets with a sophisticated security solution," concluded Macpherson.
