New package to track IT assets

June 2001 Information Security

Local company, FrontRange Solutions (FRS), recently announced the launch of HEAT Asset Tracker, aimed at keeping track of a company's IT investments. FRS is an international supplier of software for automating customer service support centres in small to mid-sized organisations.

The HEAT Asset Tracker, a new module for IT helpdesk inventory control aims to achieve cost savings by:

* Eliminating the need for physical inventory audits.

* Protecting against potential theft and loss.

* Managing warranties and leases.

* Ensuring the company is not found guilty of software licence violations, with the resultant heavy fines imposed therewith.

By using Asset Tracker, the IT manager can sort items by numerous categories, such as department, status, type of hardware or software, or user. In addition, a variety of reports essential to inventory management and budget control can be produced, either pre-written or customised. Designed to work seamlessly with FRS' HEAT 6.0 helpdesk software, Asset Tracker enables the automatic location, identification and management of an organisation's IT assets from one central location.
