Offshore oil thermals

Offshore oil rigs in India benefit from Opgal thermal imaging equipment.

Opgal Optronics recently supplied several units of an advanced security platform to protect offshore oil rigs in India. By incorporating its Arbel thermal camera together with a CCD camera in an explosion-proof PTZ, Opgal has created a custom solution that is suited to the challenging environment of offshore oil rigs.

The equipment selected for the task can withstand the harshest weather and environmental conditions, including wind-driven ocean storms, as well as explosion-proof safety regulations. It is vibration and shock resistant and water sealed. Utilising the Arbel high-sensitivity, long-wave thermal imaging camera, the system can detect targets in total darkness and in low visibility conditions as far as six kilometres away. “Given the nature of their operation, this order by one of our customers is a vote of confidence in the high quality and reliability of the thermal equipment that were developed and manufactured by Opgal,” says Dror Sharon, Opgal’s CEO.
