There are many types of intercoms available on the market, but this one is wireless and operates on the 2,4 GHz licence exempt frequency. The power output is low enough not to interfere with other transmissions in the area on the same frequency. The unit was sourced because of the demand from installers who specialise in home and small business security and automation. They required a video intercom that was wireless, since wiring a unit from an entrance to the house can be difficult and costly, and the risk of damage to this cable is high.
Besides the wireless advantage, the unit enables the owner to carry the handset around in the house/office, and the rechargeable handset provides a standby time of up to 72 hours. The door station is weatherproof and equipped with a good quality camera (IR selectable at night) that gets displayed on a 2,4-inch TFT LCD screen on the handset. To round it off the unit can unlock doors and gates remotely for visitors.
