Lumidigm expands with Mercury series

July 2010 Access Control & Identity Management

Lumidigm, the multispectral imaging biometrics company represented by Brand New Technologies, has introduced the Mercury Series fingerprint sensors.

Multispectral imaging from Lumidigm is a biometric technology that virtually eliminates common real world performance problems experienced with conventional fingerprint sensors. Robust and reliable, multispectral imaging allows Lumidigm sensors to capture superior images quickly, on all people, in all environmental conditions. The Mercury sensors incorporate this field-proven technology into a reliable new platform with a new form factor that supports speedy transactions with single-touch performance.

“Mercury represents an important breakthrough in our ability to deliver the multispectral imaging value proposition to more customers, more applications and more markets,” said Phil Scarfo, Lumidigm’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Adding the Mercury Series to our product offerings greatly enhances our ability to address applications where a smaller form factor, lower power requirements and rapid transaction rates are most important.”

Lumidigm Mercury sensors return high-contrast 500 dpi fingerprint images in real world environments. Mercury offers both USB and RS232 connectivity, which makes integration into existing systems easy. To meet any application requirement, the Lumidigm Mercury Series has multiple modes of operation including image output, template output, verification (1:1) and identification (1:N). The I:N feature is fully interoperable with 1:1 ANSI 378 standard templates. This powerful functionality is provided to Lumidigm Mercury customers at no additional cost.

Two Mercury fingerprint sensors are currently available. The M300 is an easy-to-integrate OEM module designed for high-performance, high-throughput applications. The M301 is an elegant desktop sensor that is perfect for shared workstation applications. Both sensors support industry interoperability standards including MINEX, ANSI 378 and ANSI 381.
