Following the launch of the Biometric Industry Forum in February this year, the forum answered requests from both providers and end-users for a workshop aimed entirely at the end-user.
Around 70 delegates attended the workshop which was held on 4 May at Southern Sun Montecasino and covered subjects aimed at boosting end-user knowledge and understanding, with presentations from industry leaders.
The speaker line-up included Selwyn Jackson of MaxID, Nick van der Merwe of Ideco, Charles Leeming of Touchpay, Freddy Niehaus of Reutech Solutions and Michel Viano of Sagem Security (recently renamed Morpho) South Africa.
The individual topics ranged from the life and times of biometric solutions, the use of standards, development in financial applications, using biometrics in access control and developments in vein/iris recognition.
The Biometric Industry Forum is operated by smart x central intelligence, and membership enquiries can be made to Carol Willis on carol@smartx.co.za or +27 (0)11 462 1690.
