IDS and IRC collaborate on alarm radio market

July 2010 News & Events

For over 15 years Inhep Digital Security (IDS) has been designing, manufacturing and distributing alarm panels in South Africa, for South Africa. It has built a country-wide distribution network, a world-class manufacturing and distribution facility, and a reputation for providing quality service.

With radio communications still the industry-standard mechanism for communicating radio data to control rooms, Inhep has for some time sought a radio solution that can not just challenge the entrenched industry leaders, but move the game forward. In IRC, IDS has found a partner it believes can achieve just this. IRC has been manufacturing two-way radios for 22 years, and successfully entered the security market in 1996, with its Robotic and Predator series of communicators, base stations and repeaters. With several networks and over 10 000 devices in the field, the solution is proven under the harshest conditions.

MD of IDS, Bryan Watson, says of the partnership with IRC: “The alarm monitoring business makes immensely tough demands on its product – it must be incredibly reliable, simple, and robust. Our panels have earned a reputation for exactly that, and although we have been looking to release a radio product for some time, we were adamant that we would only go to market with a product and a partner we were sure could live up to our expectations of quality, both in the product and the service we offer and our customers expect. In IRC I am glad to say that we have found that partner.”

Louis Ashpole, founder and MD of IRC Security, is equally excited by the venture: “Our products are tried and tested in the field and we feel that the security market will greatly benefit from the marriage between Inhep and IRC. Together, we have the product, development skills and foresight to provide the market with a range of solutions that will cater not only for existing requirements, but add value with new and exciting solutions in the future.”

IDS and IRC will be launching their collaboration at IFSEC SA Securex this year and encourage all alarm monitoring customers looking for an alternate to their current suppliers to visit their stand and discuss the options available.”
