Rocking the 2010 SAIS black tie bash

April 2010 News & Events

The South African Institute of Security (SAIS) held its annual Black Tie Bash earlier this year to rave reviews. The event was once again well attended, and a number of people were honoured at the awards for their contribution to the security industry in South Africa.

Francois Marais was once again master of ceremonies and Terry Scallan delivered the welcome speech as well as the various SAIS awards. Among the award winners was assistant commissioner Ben Groenewald, who has been the driver behind the security preparations for the Soccer World Cup, as well as Godfrey King, recently retired editor of Security Focus.

Havana Gas once again provided the music to which far too many people embarrassed themselves. Proceeds of the event, as always, went to charity.

Looking forward, the 12th annual SAIS charity golf day will be held at the Waterkloof Golf Club on Friday 7 May. Once again, the SAPS Widows and Orphans Fund will be the supported charity.

Omega Risk Solutions is the major sponsor once again and will be providing the shirts, halfway house as well as dinner, drinks and entertainment. A car will also be up for grabs for that elusive hole in one, courtesy of Omega Risk Solutions. It has been on the block for five years but nobody has won it to date.
