Life safety systems

November 2009 Fire & Safety

GE Security has introduced its 1X Series life safety control systems, a brand new range of conventional fire panels suitable for small to mid-sized structures. This series is engineered to offer a simple solution to meet individual needs.

This product line is designed to provide reliable performance and operation in one package. The 1X Series has two, four or eight zones that support up to 32 devices per zone, as well as up to four supervised relay outputs dedicated to sounder control and fire routing. Supervised and unsupervised conventional relay outputs are also available.

Designed for Pan-European compliance, the product line conforms with the latest EN norms, is CPD certified and meets several country specific standards, including British Standards (BS5839-1), Dutch Standards (NEN2535/NEN2575), and Belgian Standards (NBN S21-100) with more planned in the coming months.

“The 1X offers state-of-the-art design, both aesthetically and architecturally, and delivers easy solutions for small to mid-sized conventional applications,” said Bart Otten, president, GE Security EMEA. “Installers can rely on swift installation and simple maintenance giving them a competitive advantage,” he said.

Features include:

* 100% front panel programming.

* Electronic configuration provides important time saving benefits for simplified installations.

* Built in diagnostics to reduce troubleshooting time.

The technology implemented in GE Security’s advanced fire detection systems is developed at GE Security’s Global R&D Centre of Excellence, in Barcelona, and the fire panels are manufactured at GE Security’s newly expanded Cape Town, manufacturing facility.
