Recently released in South Africa, RealScan-D is a portable dual fingerprint live scanner featuring Suprema’s optical image-processing technology. It has an extra wide platen which facilitates high-speed image capturing of single finger flats, rolls and two-finger flats.

RealScan-D presents a significant cost advantage over 10-print live scanners and has been developed to fulfil growing needs from e-passport, border control and national identification (NID) applications which generally require two or four fingerprints for registration.

RealScan-D recently received certification from the FBI for the agency’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) Image Quality Specification (IQS) Appendix F standards. FBI IQS standards for live-scanning systems are mandatory for the purpose of FBI and most countries’ government procurements.
