SAIS and SASA attend UK Security Institute AGM

In March 2009, Terry Scallan, the chairman of the South African Institute Board of Governors and Sibusiso Ncube the national president of SASA and chairman of SIA, attended the British Security Institute AGM at the Vinopolis Hotel in London.

At the AGM Terry Scallan was awarded membership of the British Security Institute and also received a membership certificate on behalf of Errol Peace.

This was part of a reciprocal membership project based on security qualifications between the two Institutes. The UK Security Institute chairman, Bill Wyllie was awarded a membership certificate from the SAIS as a Fellow of the Institute.

Terry also awarded an SAIS certificate to the Security Institute, congratulating them on their 10th anniversary and a certificate of professionalism to their founding chairman, Geoff Whitfield.

The AGM was chaired by the British Security Institute president, Lord Alex Carlile of Berriew, QC. A new board of directors was elected and the new chairman will be elected at the first board meeting later in the month.

The guest speaker was Steve Collins, who gave an interesting presentation on 'the dangers of disguised and clandestine weapons'.
