IFSEC South Africa Securex approaches

March 2009 News & Events

The new format IFSEC South Africa Securex will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 30 June–2 July 2009.

Born from a merger between the world’s largest annual security event IFSEC and South Africa’s Securex, the amalgamation of these two entities ensures a formidable partnership which is set to consolidate the exhibition’s stature as the definitive trade show in Africa for the security, safety fire and protection industries.

IFSEC has 36 years’ experience in the security industry in the UK and launched into India in October 2007. South Africa’s tried-and-tested Securex has a highly successfully 15 year history in South Africa.

With the self explanatory new tagline – GLOBAL OUTLOOK, LOCAL APPROACH – this year’s event is primed to be the most comprehensive ever. Perceived as an important market globally, this year’s event will present an ideal opportunity for international companies hoping to enter the African market.

MD of Elvey Security Technologies, Jack Edery, who is past chairman of SASA and ESDA comments, “We view this merger as a very positive initiative for exhibitors, visitors and the industry as a whole. The international link will lift the level of industry focus as we are now on an international stage and as such will attract international industry players. This will drive local exhibitors to meet international standards.”

In line with the new blood being pumped into the format, the organisers have announced an innovative new area, the Fire Solutions Pavilion to this year’s event. The pavilion will showcase the latest products and innovations addressing fire protection and prevention, detection and alarm systems, emergency lighting, portable extinguishers/systems, fire sprinkler systems and components, building management systems, structural/passive, fire resistant storage methods.

Last year Securex attracted 5634 visitors from all over Africa. Despite the recession the organisers expect a high number of self-selected key buyers to attend.
