Siltag and ETC merge to form Evolving Management Solutions

Dec '99 News & Events

The recent formation of Kunene Solutions & Services (KSS) within the Siltek stable has led to the merger of two group companies – Siltag and ETC – to form Evolving Management Solutions (EMS).

Because both companies were so closely aligned in the design, development and deployment of electronic resource management systems, merging the two operations into a single business unit makes sound business sense according to Marketing Manager Steve Mason. His views are echoed by the company’s MD Mark Schorn who says there has always been a strong sense of business synergy between ETC and Siltag and now as a single entity under the EMS umbrella the company has formulated a strategically focused and common goal.

“EMS addresses the growing need for the use of IT in developing electronic resource management systems that are suitable for implementation within the IT environment. Our solutions include access control and management systems, personnel management systems, time and attendance systems and visitor logging systems.

“We have initiated a ‘building block’ methodology whereby components are used to form an upwardly upgradable solution without downward redundancy,” says Schorn.

Highly specialised niche market

Mason says that through the use of intrinsic radio frequency (RF) based technology, dynamic asset management and tracking systems with the ability to integrate these technologies are produced. This includes embracing existing sub-systems such as closed circuit television (CCTV), fire alarm systems and building management systems.

“Collectively the merging of Siltag and ETC brings together an enormous amount of experience to this highly specialised niche market industry creating a force that has the ability to produce turnkey solutions to a wide spectrum of enterprises.”

He adds that with the combined expertise of both Siltag and ETC management and staff, the newly formed EMS uses an effective reciprocal partnership approach whereby strong alliances are forged with business partners to create value added services. Each selected business partner has specific expertise that EMS draws from while at the same time reciprocating its expertise to the partnership.

Participating businesses are fully conversant with the technologies provided by EMS. Joint marketing campaigns ensure that end users deploy solutions that fulfil their requirements and are properly implemented, maintained and supported.

Consulting and design facilities

Through this operational channel EMS offers consulting and design facilities ranging from small to medium businesses through to large corporate environments across a wide spectrum of target markets.

Drawing on the internal and business partner technical resource pool, EMS provides customers with solutions that incorporate such diverse assets as feasibility studies, the design of bespoke software solutions, project management, pre-configuration, system commissioning, technical and end user training, main-tenance and support.

Early in the new millennium EMS expects to achieve ISO certification. This is being accomplished through rigorous in-house staff training procedures.

“We believe that the security-orientated products we deliver are driven by IT and in this respect all staff members are trained to be computer literate,” says Schorn.

In addition to being a Microsoft back office approved solutions provider, in-house software development skills within EMS include C++, Delphi and Visual basic for the development of bespoke software and an in-depth knowledge of the access control, resource monitoring and management, CCTV and time and attendance environments.
