Norbain expands Vista Columbus range

September 99 Surveillance

Norbain SD, the UK's leading distributor of CCTV equipment, represented in South Africa by Reditron, has launched the next addition to the Vista Columbus DVMR (digital video multiplexing recording) system - the VDGHD 16-channel colour duplex model.

Designed and built to incorporate the features that made the very first Vista 10-way simplex Columbus DVMR so successful, the VDGHD has the added benefit of duplex facilities, enabling users to view multiscreen images and record simultaneously, providing excellent flexibility, especially in retail environments where other models in the Columbus range have proved so popular.

As with all Vista Columbus DVMR systems, the VDGHD features a built-in hard disk capacity of 8,4 Gbyte, activity and video motion detection, background archiving to the DAT drive for safety and the ability to play back direct from DAT without the need to upload data. This latter feature is a real breakthrough as other manufacturers' hard disk recorders can take in excess of 20 min to retrieve images, whereas the Vista Columbus takes just 30 s.

All of these features have been designed to be extremely easy to use - as simple as a multiplexer and VCR claims Norbain, as a result of the incorporation of pushbutton controls and Windows pull-down menus. To make the VDGHD even more appealing, Norbain has also given it a highly attractive price.
