Philips first with digital colour cameras for observation market

September 99 Surveillance

Philips recently launched its new POS colour camera range (VCM7Axx/00T) and VC7Axx5T) at IFSEC '99. These cameras use the latest digital signal processing technology, giving Philips the distinction of being the only company in the observation category able to offer professional quality digital cameras.

The key benefits of this new technology are improved picture sharpness, better contrast and colour definition as well as greater sensitivity in lower light applications, bringing colour camera performance in low light close to that of monochrome for the first time.

Truly innovative are the pre-fixed settings for indoor and outdoor use. The new POS range offers 128 camera settings optimised for outdoor and indoor use, resulting in quality picture performance in even the most challenging conditions. Furthermore, the cameras come equipped with an auto-iris/vari-focal lens able to cope with the full range of observation requirements from wide overview to close-up scrutiny, all in a single adjustable lens!

The new digital cameras are only slightly more expensive than the current range and as POS Marketing Manager Andrew Bull points out, "When you see what these cameras can do in comparison to other observation cameras, they are clearly value for money."

Features at a glance:

p Increased light sensitivity up to 0,3 lux.

p Enhanced sharpness due to digital processing.

p Digital pre-fixed settings for optimal images in a wide range of lighting conditions.

p Camera-system distance up to 500 m for greater installation flexibility.

o Forward/backward-compatible with existing VCM71 series camera and VSS73 series monitors.
